Permit for salute shooting

24 pursuant to Section 32 of the 1st Explosives Ordinance (1. SprengV).

To apply for a permit under Section 27 of the Explosives Act (*SprengG*), you must demonstrate a "legitimate need" (*Bedürfnis*) by providing proof of membership in a recognized association, along with a confirmation from the association's board stating that you engage in ceremonial cannon/mortar firing (*Böllerschießen*) as part of the preservation of local customs. To participate in a basic training course pursuant to Section 32 of the 1st Explosives Ordinance (*1. SprengV*), you are required to obtain a certificate of reliability (*Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung*) under Section 34 of the same ordinance. Please be aware that authorities may sometimes require a significant amount of time to process applications. Typically, you will receive your certificate within 4–6 weeks, though in exceptional cases, this may take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks. We are happy to conduct the specialized training course at your own location, provided that suitable indoor facilities and access to an appropriate outdoor area for ceremonial firing are available. Alternatively, you may register to attend one of our regularly scheduled public courses. Thanks to our nationwide recognition, there are no complications when dealing with administrative procedures across different federal states. Please note that, following the amendment to the 1st Explosives Ordinance (*1. SprengV*) effective July 1, 2017, we now offer training courses for ceremonial firing exclusively as individual (private) sessions.

procedure

14 days before the start of the training course, each participant will receive all relevant materials for the professional qualification course (Fachkundelehrgang) conducted in accordance with Section 32 of the 1st Explosives Ordinance (1. SprengV) — commonly referred to as the "Böllerschein" (ceremonial cannon/black powder firing license). The course, which covers both the firing of ceremonial cannons and the handling of the associated black powder, spans two days and includes the following curriculum: Theory of ceremonial cannon firing Practical ceremonial cannon firing Legal framework for the handling of explosives The examination, pursuant to Section 36 of the 1st Explosives Ordinance, typically takes place one week after the course; however, upon request, it can also be held immediately following the course on the third day. A representative from the relevant authority must be present to conduct the examination. The examination consists of both a written and a practical component. In exceptional cases—such as during a re-examination—an oral-practical assessment may also be required. Upon successfully passing the examination, participants will be issued their certificate.
