Reloading courses

According to §32 of the 1st Explosives Ordinance.

In order to apply for a permit pursuant to § 27 SprengG, you must demonstrate a legitimate need, which requires membership in a recognized shooting sports association as well as either a firearms possession licence (Waffenbesitzkarte, WBK) or a valid hunting licence.

To participate in a basic training course pursuant to § 32 of the 1st SprengV, a certificate of no objection pursuant to § 34 of the 1st SprengV is required. Please note that the authorities may sometimes require a considerable amount of time to process applications. As a rule, you will receive your certificate of no objection within 4–6 weeks; in exceptional cases, processing may take between 2 and 12 weeks.

We are also happy to conduct the specialist training course at your premises. Suitable facilities and a 25-metre shooting range approved for shooting muzzleloading firearms are required. Alternatively, you may participate in one of our scheduled courses upon prior registration.

Due to our nationwide recognition, there are no complications arising from administrative procedures involving authorities across different federal states.

Please understand that, following the amendment to the 1st SprengV of July 1, 2017, we can only offer ammunition reloading courses in combination with muzzleloading courses.

As part of the combined course, participants may reload ammunition using both nitrocellulose (NC) powder and black powder, and shoot muzzleloading firearms using both black powder and black-powder substitutes.

Procedure

[Translate to English:]

14 days before the start of the course, each participant will receive all relevant documents relating to the specialist training course pursuant to § 32 of the 1st SprengV (so-called “gunpowder certificate”).

The combined course, consisting of loading and reloading cartridge cases, including the handling of nitrocellulose (NC) powder, together with the use of black powder in connection with shooting muzzleloading firearms, lasts two days and covers the following course content:

  • Theory of muzzleloading firearms

  • Practical training with muzzleloading firearms

  • Shooting with muzzleloading firearms

  • Legal principles governing the handling of explosive substances (black powder/NC powder)

  • Theory of ammunition reloading

  • Practical ammunition reloading

The examination pursuant to § 36 of the 1st SprengV generally takes place one week after the course. Upon request, however, it can also take place directly on the third day immediately following the course.

The presence of a representative of the competent authority is required for the examination to be conducted.

The examination consists of a written and a practical part. In exceptional cases, an oral-practical examination may be required as part of a retest.

Upon successful completion, the examination concludes with the issuance of the certificate.
