Course for Responsible Range Supervisors
pursuant to Section 27 of the Weapons Act (WaffG), Section 10 of the General Weapons Ordinance (AWaffV), and the DSB resolution of 18 March 2017
We can conduct training courses for "responsible range supervisors" (supervisors on the firing line)—in accordance with the requirements of the DSB (German Shooting Federation) and BDS (Federation of German Sport Shooters)—directly at your club’s facilities. The training, which includes an oral and practical examination, takes approximately 4 hours. Participants must meet the following requirements: Legal age: At least 18 years old. Reliability: No criminal record and no concerns regarding constitutional loyalty. Personal suitability: Mentally and physically fit. Expertise: Proof of technical knowledge regarding firearms (*Waffensachkunde*) pursuant to Section 3, paragraphs 3, 4, and 5 of the General Firearms Ordinance (AWaffV) and Section 7 of the Firearms Act (WaffG). The training covers the following topics: Shooting ranges. Firearms regulations concerning the use of shooting ranges. Age restrictions (Section 27, paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Firearms Act). Duties of a range supervisor (Section 11 of the General Firearms Ordinance). Storage of firearms or ammunition at the shooting range (Sections 13, 14, and 36 of the General Firearms Ordinance). Acquisition of firearms and ammunition at the shooting range (Section 12, paragraph 1, no. 5 and paragraph 2, no. 2 of the Firearms Act). Insurance for operators and shooters. Procedures in the event of an accident. Individuals who hold a certificate as a qualified "responsible range supervisor" may be appointed to this role by the board of any club recognized by the German Shooting Federation (DSB) or the Federation of German Sport Shooters (BDS). This qualification is only valid in conjunction with the technical expertise (*Sachkunde*) acquired under Section 7 of the Firearms Act.
Procedure
Each participant will receive a personal handout for the training session. The course consists of formal instruction, including an on-site walkthrough of the shooting range. Additionally, the board will be provided with a record of the qualification training—a document required by law for verification purposes.
